Finishing a prim for Saturday's big event! Day with Dolls is here! Finishing up a prim for show and tell. It takes the mind, body and soul. The idea starts in the mind, the body gets it into action. The soul produces the creation.

Pins! Pins! Pins!

Doll pins of course. They have taken over! Yes they are all sewn, cut out, turned and stuffed. 30 of them! They may not sound like a lot but tell my fingers lol! Now for the fun part, beading and embellishing.

Dolls of Course!

Well another project completed. A wonderful primitive doll was sent off to Patti Culea! She is making a DVD about her dolls and people who make her dolls. Ran out of business cards for the last event so I decided to make some. Made a little doll pin and attached it to the business card. What a success. So now I am on the doll pin mode. I am traveling to North Carolina this weekend so I am making as many litte pin dolls that I can to take with me to bead! I even found a cute little teddy bear pattern from a Soft Dolls and Animals magazine from last year. The pin patterns came from an artist by Ronda Kivett. She put free pin patterns on the internet a while ago. Making and beading them. They are so cute. Make a pin pattern? Why reinvent the wheel. Ronda said I could use her little pattern and I am. Sewing in the secret place by the light of the moon.

Tory Burch

Well the Tory Burch event was quite a success! She is the sweetest person! Gave her a doll pin too. Met Russell Simmons. My two mentors were wonderful Doreen Wright (retired Senior Vice President an CIO of Campbell Soup company. And Simon Collins Dean of Fashion at the Parsons school of design.  What a wonderful entrepenuer experience!!!! Pictures forthcoming. Tory Burch believes in women entrepeneurs and supports them with her foundation. Russell Simmons gave us a copy of his book "Super Rich"! I told my cloth doll story and it was heard! Yeah! Putting cloth dolls on the map even in the fashion world.

Events!

So much to do. Working nightly on my projects. Today I have a mentor workshop with world known Tory Burch, famous fashion designer. Russell Simmons is one of the speakers! Whew it's only 12:30 and I am showered and dressed for a 6:00pm meeting in the city. Making strides for the cloth doll world! 2 great festivals coming up! Preparing for Day With Dolls and Art-Is. I am a happy busy lady!

Sunday!

This Sunday has turned into sew day! Working on project after project. So I guess I'm never done with projects. Thank God.  More pictures are coming. The biggest project is the grand opening of my doll business.

Elevator Pitch Competition

Well I entered my executive summary into the competition. First I got selected to complete. First round I was selected to enter the finals. Didn't win the monetary prize. However the new friends I met and contacts I made were price less!!! My Prayer Angels got on the map!!!

July 5th!

Soon my birthday will be here and I am planning something special. A happy birthday cookout for me! Featuring dollmaking of course!! I think I will post that! The date will be July 2, 2011. Party time will start at 1:00PM! There will be food of course and dollmaking of course. Sounds like a party to me lol!!! Janice, Brenda, Heather, Colleen save the date lol!!!! And anyone else who would like to come.

June is here!

So June is here and guess what? As I steadily prepare for Art-Is and a wonderful class with Sherry Goshen and Jean Bernard  It's time to get started on Christmas ornaments lol!!

I have been so busy getting my doll business off the ground that I lost May too lol!!! What until the end of June when I have my kickoff just in time for my birthday in July!!!

What happened to April!!!!

Wait a minute what happened to April??? Where have I been for 30 days lol!!! Well it came and went too quickly as we approach mid year time. Soon it will be June! Lot's of things happening. Mostly dolls and Art Is. Taking a class with the wonderful Sherry Goshon and Jean Bernard. Can't wait!!

Working on Sewing!!

What could be better on a snowy day in March(hmmm) than sitting in your new sewing room getting it together. Looking at all the treasures you put away re-surface! I took a mental day off from work. House clean, dinner cooked, now it's my turn!!!

March already!!

Well March is here and I almost finished my sewing room yeah!! Though its small it's just right for me. It has lots of sun and a door to the balcony. It's my little get-away! If I could fit a bed back there my husband would never see me lol!!!!!! Well it's Women's history month as well as craft month. Two treats in one. Got some creating to do. By next weekend I will hopefully celebrating the opening and christening of my new room!

The Weekend

Though blustery and down right cold outside, had fun planning with my sister Pam Art-Is things, doll things, ATC's, ornaments, vending. She keeps me grounded. "October will be here before you know it" she says. She doesn't know all of the things I have in between it lol!! I have to keep creating and finding me. I do that in my dolls. My thoughts and dreams. Nurse by profession I feel I could help people heal better through dolls. Look for the therapy part of my doll making to come forward real soon!!!!!!

Post Valentines Day!

Well Valentines Day has come and gone. Me and my husband had a wonderful time!! Out to lunch and then home!! We exchanged the most wonderful cards. But the most special gift, a pair of Angel wing earrings. They are so delicate and light they look like they came fresh off of an Angel!!! I am sooooooo blessed. This weekend I am attempting to finish my craft/sewing room so that I can work in it. I have so many projects to work on. Dolls is #1!!! I need some ideas for curtains! Something creative. Thanks to my nieces Sonarri and Johari!! Love you ladies.

Valentines Day!

Well at first I was spending Valentines Day at home alone ......(sigh). But now my husband is taking off so making Valentine Day dolls is now out lol!! Oh well I guess we will be making google eyes at each other. Love him soooo much lol!! Enough mushy stuff. I am going to Ohio to AFIC. Trying to get all I can in. My son is going to private high school in Sept and my budget is going to get tighter. Still dreaming of my dolls and creating though. In August I am hosting a big event in Jersey City. Art on the steps of City Hall. I have that project to dream about now.

February is the Love Month!!

Happy February everyone!! I received the most wonderful box of goodies from my friend Sallianne!!! Inside were 10 clay molds from faces to hands and feet. There are clay faces, small doll kits, clay (fimo and sculpey), clay softener, over 10 bags of buttons and beads, the most wonderful designed notebook in antiqued ticking fabric! An edition of "Where Women Create" magazine, the most amazing bead kits.  Wow!!!!!! I was screaming lol!!!! My husband kept saying what what WHAT!!! I just kept saying THE BOX!!!!!LOL!!! What a wonderful treat on a cold winters day lol!! Now to play and have fun with "The Box" LOL!!!
