I have 65 dolls that I have sewn or put together that need to be finished. 65! I am trying to avoid creating something new, but of course I made a new doll pattern lol!! Okay so 5 rag dolls need to be dressed. All of those dresses are done. Sew them up and dress the little girls. (I have to make some little boys too lol). Goal to finish dresses by sundown. Then I will start on some whimsical dolls. That's 10 dolls that I am preparing for a show next weekend. Whew! 10 down 55 to go. Really, I don't think I'm going to make it lol!!! Especially with other projects whirling around in my head. You know what would be great? You think of a doll or project and then bam! It appears already prepared lol! I can dream can't I. Oh well back to sewing.

Well I had to expand my space! New sewing room coming up! Yeah! Of course I am excited. Next it will be a true store. But alas I have a work assignment from February to June. But it's all good. Extra finances will go well with a new doll business. I am making my list! Starting with fixtures to hold my stuff. Shelves will be built. Curtains will be made. I have 2 wonderful windows with wonderful sunlight. I am so excited. Goals don't you love them? LOL!

Well December 2011 was the busiet year in my life. LOL!!! Preparing for a show, filling orders!! Much was learned through that whole process. Now forward on in 2012~~ Yeah!!!! Again 2nd day and I am off and sewing. Took a week off before the New Year's celebration to re-group. Now more plans have been made and more action is needed to be taken. Met lots of interesting people. Lots of orders to fill. I will have to stay up 24hrs a day until after Christmas lol!!! Almost finish minis. Thought I would be finished for this show. But I have another show in 2 weeks. In fact every 2 weeks until Christmas. In December I am having a trunk show. Date to be announced!

Then tell me what you think. Well still on an art high. Learned woodburning. Will be woodburning some mandalas on wood. What fun. I am using them to create backgrounds for doll displays. Well another project completed. A wonderful primitive doll was sent off to Patti Culea! She is making a DVD about her dolls and people who make her dolls. Ran out of business cards for the last event so I decided to make some. Made a little doll pin and attached it to the business card. What a success. So now I am on the doll pin mode. I am traveling to North Carolina this weekend so I am making as many litte pin dolls that I can to take with me to bead! I even found a cute little teddy bear pattern from a Soft Dolls and Animals magazine from last year. The pin patterns came from an artist by Ronda Kivett. She put free pin patterns on the internet a while ago. Making and beading them. They are so cute. Make a pin pattern? Why reinvent the wheel. Ronda said I could use her little pattern and I am. Sewing in the secret place by the light of the moon.

Well the Tory Burch event was quite a success! She is the sweetest person! Gave her a doll pin too. Met Russell Simmons. My two mentors were wonderful Doreen Wright (retired Senior Vice President an CIO of Campbell Soup company. And Simon Collins Dean of Fashion at the Parsons school of design. What a wonderful entrepenuer experience!!!! Pictures forthcoming. Tory Burch believes in women entrepeneurs and supports them with her foundation. Russell Simmons gave us a copy of his book "Super Rich"! I told my cloth doll story and it was heard! Yeah! Putting cloth dolls on the map even in the fashion world.

Though blustery and down right cold outside, had fun planning with my sister Pam Art-Is things, doll things, ATC's, ornaments, vending. She keeps me grounded. "October will be here before you know it" she says. She doesn't know all of the things I have in between it lol!! I have to keep creating and finding me. I do that in my dolls. My thoughts and dreams. Nurse by profession I feel I could help people heal better through dolls. Look for the therapy part of my doll making to come forward real soon!!!!!!

Well Valentines Day has come and gone. Me and my husband had a wonderful time!! Out to lunch and then home!! We exchanged the most wonderful cards. But the most special gift, a pair of Angel wing earrings. They are so delicate and light they look like they came fresh off of an Angel!!! I am sooooooo blessed. This weekend I am attempting to finish my craft/sewing room so that I can work in it. I have so many projects to work on. Dolls is #1!!! I need some ideas for curtains! Something creative. Thanks to my nieces Sonarri and Johari!! Love you ladies.

Well at first I was spending Valentines Day at home alone ......(sigh). But now my husband is taking off so making Valentine Day dolls is now out lol!! Oh well I guess we will be making google eyes at each other. Love him soooo much lol!! Enough mushy stuff. I am going to Ohio to AFIC. Trying to get all I can in. My son is going to private high school in Sept and my budget is going to get tighter. Still dreaming of my dolls and creating though. In August I am hosting a big event in Jersey City. Art on the steps of City Hall. I have that project to dream about now.

Happy February everyone!! I received the most wonderful box of goodies from my friend Sallianne!!! Inside were 10 clay molds from faces to hands and feet. There are clay faces, small doll kits, clay (fimo and sculpey), clay softener, over 10 bags of buttons and beads, the most wonderful designed notebook in antiqued ticking fabric! An edition of "Where Women Create" magazine, the most amazing bead kits. Wow!!!!!! I was screaming lol!!!! My husband kept saying what what WHAT!!! I just kept saying THE BOX!!!!!LOL!!! What a wonderful treat on a cold winters day lol!! Now to play and have fun with "The Box" LOL!!!

LOL!! For my last post I waited for 1/1/11 and posted at 11:11. You can't get no more number 1 than that. I feel good today! I am good so therefore I create. I learned a valuable lesson at the very end of the year and the beginning of the New Year. I started losing myself artistically trying to prove to people I am an artist. I compromised. How? I was so intent on making these people see that I was an artist that I lost focus. And guess what they still didn't take me serious. Does that mean I am not a serious artist? NOOOO! That just means I am not part of that clique. I have to get back to myself. I have to get back to myself. I lost that battle and guess what it's all okay. I took my eggs out of that one basket. I have made so many art friends. Those other people they are still people I know. Like my husband said I always want to make everybody my friend. Sometimes you try so hard that you can't see when people don't really like you. And that's what makes the lesson valuable!!! Because you don't and won't die if everyone doesn't like you!!! The lesson only becomes valuable when you get it. So now my affirmations are I am great! I am talented! I am a teacher and a leader! I love me! Whew it took me 50 years and a day. But I said it. And guess what the 5 great followers of my blog, the people who actually said I am interested in you, will be the recepient of this great soapbox blog today!!! Thank you! And I feel good!!!! I am making dolls. Thanks to a rescue from my friend. Brenda for some polyfil, I am able to complete 2 dolls! Yeah! They are sewn up and ready for the next step. As soon as I put them together then the fun part. Making them look different, old, antiqued, distressed, primmed out yeah! LOL! Should you laugh to keep from crying or should you cry between the tears. Just do both.

This is the best Christmas ever!! My husband cleaned the whole house for me. Luv him. Vended outside December 24, 2010!!! What a wonderful experience. I didn't finish my prims to put out but I still had other dolls to go. And 4 of them left for new homes yeah!!!!! It was cold for sure so my husband and 2 sons came to rescue me with a ride home. Yes the gentlemen packed my stuff, carried it to the car and got me home safely!!!! But Christmas morning all of my children came over for breakfast. Greg made breakfast! (best husband in the world!! Now this was one of the best Christmas's we have had. Now to brace ourselves for the snow. Let's see. Lot's of food, making dolls, I can't think of a better way to start my vacation!!! Have some new ideas for my dolls, including an add on to my name. But right now just relaxing with my honey.

I was talking with Michael DeMeng on facebook. He is interested in my fabric rusting and I am taking one of his classes at Art Is. After reading one of his books and the coaxing of some friends I am going to enhance my dollmaking by going over to the DeMeng side lol!!!!! Prims beware!! Worked on some wonderful recipes. The sky is the limit. I am ready lol!!!!
Wow is Christmas this Friday. Plan to go down to Grove Street in Jersey City and Vend!!! Come on by and see various dolls including my new Prim line!!! This is such a special day for me. It's a holy night!!!!! I am not a fan of winter but Christmas Eve, outside vending, big tent with lights and a busy thoroughfare, selling my precious ladies. What an event!!!!!! Can't wait. So excited about Art Is You! Time to start packing and preparing for the trip. I have 6 students in my class! Soon I will post the supply list and all of the fun we will be having. For starters ladies you need to start packing: 1lb bag of fiberfill. Don't buy cheap fiberfill it will cause lumps.
Stuffing tool: hemostats, stuffing tool, (whatever you like to stuff dolls with)
Basic dollmaking kit: needles, thread, scissors for fabric and paper
Fabric for clothing (a pattern will be provided for clothing).

Well this weekend I didn't get all that I wanted done! Injured my back. But I managed to get doll sewn up, stuffed and with mask baked and ready to be painted. Oh my back has spasms. Lot's of medicine until my grandsons father gave me an exercise. He is an ex football player LOL! So I used his advice. It helped a lot. But as soon as I lift something it comes back. Solution: don't lift unnecessarily. Thank God for the dishwasher. I still cooked dinner though LOL! But back to creating. I have too projects for you. One the surprise and the other one is the winged and flying monkey. I try to work on something everyday. I have a lot of days until my "Art Is" class. But I am preparing everyday. This is not just going to be a class but an extravaganza!! I'm telling you no one can do it like me! LOL! I want to form a doll club after this class so that we can meet regularly. LOL! Well! I am going to do it. First my husband suggested it and I said no. I am not going to do it. But then as a tribute to one of my favorite fashion designers Alexander McQueen I have consented. So it's going to be a surprise. I owe the idea to my husband and the house of McQueen! Coming soon. I am working on it this weekend. Stay tuned!!

Dolls and Snow!

Well clinic was cancelled. So what to do. Stay home and make dolls of course! Lifting up all the shades to the windows and working on my dolls at the kitchen table. What a peaceful joy! I am currently working on more wicked (and good) divas for Art Is! Looking forward to taking my friend Ellen's goddess class in March. Art-Is-You is the place to be. This is the big project for me this year. Entering the fashion world with this wicked witch!!! More pictures to come. The theme is "The Wizard of Oz"! Being wicked is my thing. I will be in my element. LOL!

Imagine dolls in haute couture. Well there is a doll magazine that says just that. And thats where you will find some of the latest fashion. Wait until my next lady doll! Pink is not always fluffy and cute. Wait until you see this next pretty in pink lol! The doll designs for this doll will take you to unlimited possibilities. I cant wait for my students to decide how they will proceed with their doll. The hair is sooo much fun to do. I am on the look out for wig pieces everywhere. I can't wait to see the look on students faces when they enter my world.

A lot going on this month. I am working on my second Art Is doll and the Flying Diva Monkey! What fun creating this new doll. I have so much fun looking for things to embellish her with. And the costuming for the second doll is going to be fierce as well. I want this to be a very successful class! All of my spiritual creative energy is focused there right now. I enjoy people having fun!! I can't wait to sign up for workshops. If you people miss Art Is this year. Well you will have to wait until 2011~! That's a long wait. I can hardly wait for 2010. To see all my friends again. It's like going back to school for 6 brief days. Wow 6 days. Soon it will be 7 days, then 30, 40, 50. Let's see a whole sememster of days. We will never go home hooray!!!!!

Well I have created a new pattern to teach at Art Is!! The title of my class is Which Witch areYou? Oh as soon as she is completed and sent to the Art Is team of Sallianne and Ellen, she will be my world tour promotion. First of all if you follow my blog get your payment plan ready because you will want to go to Art Is. If you have any artistic inclination or drive this is the place to be. You will go into "Art Is" overload. I can bet a stake in that claim.

Anyhow, my Witch class is right up my artistic alley. When I get finish teaching you this doll, you will think that the doll world revolves around the witch divas that we can so become. I will invite students to journey with me in creating their innermost "witch moment." It's going to be fun. In 6 hours what we can create! This is a class project created exclusively for Art Is. Take my class you won't regret it. LOL!! From 1 witch bitch to another!!

You know I don't make New Year resolutions because I live each day to do better than the day before. But something about the New Year that just challenges you. Think about how a stubborn person never wants to change. Do they really not want to change or too stubborn to change. Who is more miserable when it comes to people like that...we the changers I suppose. My father always taught us no matter what try to learn something it keeps your mind strong. So happy New Year to the movers and shakers LOL! To the stubborn and unchanging well I guess you are happy too!

Well we finally moved onto a nice peaceful block. Apt is smaller than the last one but we have peace of mind. No craft room to make dolls. What does that mean? It means I will take over the kitchen LOL! I am always making dinner so I might as well create while I cook. You can't have everything!

Well my birthday weekend went great! Friday July 3, I started the weekend with out to dinner with my honey. He took me to see Hair!!!!! It was fantastic. We had a wonderful time. Saturday on the July 4, I went up to Mt. Vernon NY to spend the day with my friends Gwen, Doris and Minnie! Of course we made dolls all day. Sunday July 5 (my actual birthdate) I came home from church, set up a grill and cooked. It was late and we weren't going to do it. But I said what the heck. Then my eldest son came over with his girlfriend. My daughter and my Snookums. All of my family was there. It was the best weekend ever!

Well what can be more fun than preparing for a birthday weekend! I celebrate my birthday the week before and the week after! At work I treated my staff to lunch! And then they turned around and treated me to many wonderful gifts and 3 cakes!!!! LOL!!! I will be spending a whole day with just me and hubby on 7/3. Then on 7/4 I will be spending the day with 2 of the most wonderful ladies in my life, Mama G and Aunt Doris!!!! Then on Sunday I will gather with my Sarien, Erin Aja, Gregory, Snookums and Bipa for a happy birthday to me Sunday dinner! It will be complete with party hats, ice cream and cake! Maybe a pinata. Gregory is not to keen on Pinatas. Hmmm a long story. Well anyway as Art -Is looms....Happy Birthday to me~

Where Have I Been!

Oh my goodness. It's the end of June already! I have 3 wonderful events coming up. First the African American Festival September 12, 2009 in Jersey City New Jersey. I need vendors and entertainers.

Next is Art-Is the most wonderful conference on the East Coast!!! Me and a couple of my friends will be traveling up to CT to teach. I love dollmaking, that's what I do!

Next is the annual Doll Holiday Party I host in December. I usually get a group of doll friends together and we have a sew-a-thon (dollmaking of course). So keep visiting and I will keep you informed of these wonderful events. Visit my facebook and my website too!

Obama is in yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The event was watched by me and my husband. He made a wonderful brunch and we sat and watched until dark! I was crocheting small dresses for small dolls. It was a wonderful day.

I have been invited to teach an evening class at Art Is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am more than excited. What do I teach to go with these trendy artsy ladies? I am thinking right now.

Hello Everyone!
Christmas to me is sad this year. I am without my mom who was barely alive last Christmas but still pulled through. She died in April though. I am sad because I want to put up my Christmas tree but I can't because my arm is bad(I fell off of a chair). My husband won't put it up. I have no holiday spirit. I was thinking I am never happy at Christmas time because of my husband. I don't remember too many happy Christmas's at all. I try to make Christmas my favorite time of year until I get home. Then it's stressful.
